Tesla billionaire Elon Musk on Saturday tweeted at actor Mark Ruffalo not to believe everything Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says, capping off a week of conflict between the congresswoman and Twitter’s new owner.
Ocasio-Cortez, a Democrat from New York, criticized Musk on Wednesday after he said he planned to start charging Twitter users $8 a month to be verified and for other special features.
“Lmao at a billionaire earnestly trying to sell people on the idea that ‘free speech’ is actually a $8/mo subscription plan,” she tweeted, prompting a brief reply from Musk: “Your feedback is appreciated, now pay $8.”
The feud continued as Musk shared a screenshot of Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign merch with a $58 price tag for a sweatshirt circled. She responded by saying her workers are unionized, calling Musk a “union buster with an ego problem.”
Ocasio-Cortez later said she was “conveniently” having problems with her Twitter account following the exchanges with Musk. In a tweet, she accused Musk of blocking her account for saying something he didn’t like and questioning his stated commitment to free speech.
Mark Ruffalo got involved on Friday, retweeting Ocasio-Cortez and begging Musk to leave Twitter: “Elon. Please—for the love of decency—get off Twitter, hand the keys over to someone who does this as an actual job, and get on with running Tesla and SpaceX. You are destroying your credibility. It’s just not a good look.”
Musk responded on Thursday, turning again to Ocasio-Cortez: “Hot take: not everything AOC says is accurate.”
Ruffalo, who is also an activist and has advocated for a number of liberal causes over the years, tweeted back: “Maybe so.”
“That’s why having robust filters for dis/misinformation & credible verified users has been a popular feature for people & advertisers alike. We need those safeguards to make sure it’s accurate information, or the app loses credibility, as do you. And people leave,” he said.
Musk and Ocasio-Cortez have frequently clashed in the past, including over unionization and free speech. But other public figures have also expressed concerns over potential changes to content moderation and spoken out against plans to charge $8 per month for the updated Twitter Blue subscription, which was already rolling out as of Saturday.
Earlier in the week, Musk exchanged tweets with author Steven King, who bashed an initial suggestion for the subscription cost to be $20 a month. Other celebrities, including producer Shonda Rhimes and singer Sara Bareilles, announced they were leaving the app shortly after Musk’s takeover last week.
A representative for Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

Pratyush Kumar Maurya of Pieux Age: 34 Hometown: Gorakhpur
Gorakhpur-born Pratyush Kumar Maurya’s luxury sustainable fashion brand Pieux, which won the R|Elan Circular Design Challenge (in partnership with UN India) back in March, presented its new collection, Illusion, at the recently concluded FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week. The collection is inspired by the “incredible world of life under the microscope” with “illusions” created through techniques like pleating, weaving, eco-friendly digital printing and 3D printing. It reflects the brand’s core philosophy based on the concept of circularity, which means that it can be reused, recycled and upcycled till the end. The collection uses R|Elan™ FeelFresh fabric “created from specially-engineered fibres and yarns with embedded silver that inhibits bacterial growth in the garment so no more sweaty odours” as well as its own Cartex textile, GRS-certified recycled nylon, GRS-certified recycled polyester and certified organic cotton. This award-winning collection also utilises deconstructed and reconstructed old clothes to great effect in oversized and comfortable silhouettes.
The designer on his processes and vision for a greener world:
“My love for sustainable fashion started during my fashion school days and I knew that whenever I started my own label, sustainability would be one of its pillars. As a responsible global citizen, I believe that I need to give back to the environment and I try to do that with complete sincerity.”
“We create our own Cartex textile, which is an upcycled handloom textile made out of discarded carpet yarns. We are associated with a carpet export house from where we procure carpet yarns that are left behind during the manufacturing process. After the procurement, we get in touch with the weaver community and, with their expertise, convert discarded yarns into Cartex. This entire process is sustainable since Cartex is created on the handloom. We pay fair wages to the weavers, keeping the entire cycle ethical. We make sure that we can keep these discarded yarns within the circular loop so that nothing reaches the landfills or oceans.”
“Aspiring and emerging designers have become more conscious while creating products and packaging, which is a great sign. Gen Z, being more experimental and curious regarding their style and appearance, will add a freshness to fashion where everyone will look for more exclusive one-off pieces in the near future.”
“We are trying to revolutionise fashion, one product at a time, with our techniques, details, craftsmanship and the circular nature of our products…. And so, after almost 10 years of research and ideation, I was able to go live commercially with my label in January 2022.”
Choosing the best family dog is not as easy as one might think yet can be a fun process for the entire family. Determining who we are as a family, what we are bringing to the table, we can’t only think about what kind of dog we want, because the dog is only half the equation; we are the other half.
Which dog is best for your family depends on knowing your own family’s desires: lifestyle, time available to spend training a dog, ages and energy level of the children and energy to help integrate a dog into your family and, yes, your financial capacity. Should you get a puppy or an older dog depends on all the above factors and will ultimately make choosing a compatible family dog a worthwhile and important endeavor.
Ask each family member what she wants in a dog
By including each family member’s wishes in how she sees a dog fitting into the family, you might be surprised to find out that one of them really doesn’t want a dog, the other one can’t wait to teach tricks and one spouse wants to have a hiking buddy, while another is kind of fearful of dogs. Knowing this will help facilitate the decision making process when searching for a doggie companion for your entire family.
Best family dog breeds
That said, these breeds or a combination thereof, are known to have an overall good resume to thrive in a family with kids.
Labrador Retriever because of their innate temperament to be loving, very trainable and easy to maintain. Labs love to be a part of whatever the family is doing; they are energetic and can go the distance — hiking, beach time or as a travel companion. Plus, Labs will keep you laughing for years.
Golden Retrievers have enough energy and willingness to be a part of anything the family wants to do. Goldens are known to be playful and have the ability to hone in on what’s going on in a family dynamic, often bringing a calming presence to a situation. It’s why they are often used as service dogs for people with autism and, did I mention, Goldens are very trainable.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are great family dogs — outdoorsy but don’t require extensive amounts of exercise. These sweet and gentle dogs love to be cuddled, don’t have exceedingly high energy, yet love to play and run. Cavaliers are happy to be a house dog with long walks in the neighborhood, joyfully greeting other people and dogs. Easy going and trainable, Cavaliers are adaptable to new situations and people.
Collies are great family dogs with the stamina to keep up with the most active family. They are easy going, adventurous, faithful and very intuitive to the needs of each family member. Remember Lassie, the famous TV star who so devotionally took care of Timmy? Smart as a whip, but won’t try to outsmart you and a very willing partner. Collies are a bit more of a maintenance commitment, given their longer coat. But, if you’re looking for a fantastic disposition, a Collie is a great choice.
West Highland Terrier makes a great family pet due to his smallish medium size, but with a big-dog personality that can go the distance with any active family. He’s sturdy, but not too big. This smart, confident dog is willing to learn and loves to do tricks. The Westie may not be as cuddly for those who’re seeking that kind of disposition, but some may surprise you. They need a little more patience with training because of their independence but will give you their all if you do put the time in. Westies need a bit more maintenance because they are white and need to be groomed, but their steadfast nature of courage and alertness goes a long way to keeping you entertained for years. They have a long life expectancy, too.
Pugs are little dogs, who are easy going and pretty trainable, but with a lower energy level that might be great for families who are more indoorsy than outdoorsy. Pugs are not in need of too much physical stimulation, yet playful enough to want to learn some tricks and play fetch with the kids. They’re adaptable to new situations, not too protective and quite social. They have a clown-like personality, so they’ll keep everyone smiling.
Standard Poodles are also known to be clowns. I call them humans in a dog suit. They are smart, playful, proud, willing partners and enjoy each family member equally. They need both physical and mental stimulation and, if you don’t oblige, they will come up with their own agenda. Well, most dogs will do this, but there’s something about a Standard Poodle where they have an uncanny way of letting you know they need something from you and know that in return, you’ll be the wiser for it. They’ll definitely keep you on your toes. Don’t be fooled or put off by the show Poodle cut, most people don’t keep them that way, and instead keep them in what’s called a puppy cut. Standard Poodles are low-shedding but need to be groomed regularly. Standard Poodles have (for the most part) a lower energy level than the smaller sized Toy and Miniature Poodles and get along great with other dogs.
Are mixed breed dogs good for families?
There are other breeds of course, that are family-friendly dogs. I chose the most common purebred dogs to give you an idea of what characteristics they have, so you can think about which dog breed or dog breed mix might be the best dog for your family.
Any mix of these dog breeds is something to seriously consider because one can get the best of both worlds with a mutt. One of the largest service dog organizations, Canine Companions For Independence, started its own breeding program breeding Golden Retrievers with Labrador Retrievers because it felt that this was the best way to glean the best characteristics of each in one dog, leading to a dog with a more solid temperament.
Other great mutt/mixes are:
You might be getting the picture that Poodles mixed with other breeds make for great family dogs, offering trainability, intelligence, gentleness and loyalty.
What is the best dog for families with children?
If you have a baby or toddlers, choosing the right dog becomes even more important for obvious safety concerns. This requires a good, honest look at the energy level of the baby or toddler, and their willingness to go along with the program.
Is your child of the more independent ilk, wanting to carve her own way or is she more timid, and will need to adjust to a dog and feel satisfied with long cuddle times on the couch. The more independent child will be better off with a medium to larger breed dog, so they won’t be tempted to carry a smaller dog around not understanding that the dog may not like to be carried all the time. Since they can’t pick up a bigger dog, it could be an opportunity for this child to learn how to teach a bigger dog tricks and spread the joy rather than needing to tell them to “please put the dog down; she really isn’t liking being held” more often than you’d like. The more timid or quiet child might love cuddling with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, melting everyone’s hearts.
Children need to be taught how to interact with dogs and dogs need to learn to be appropriate with children. Family Paws Parenting Education is a fantastic resource for parents to get the support they need to safely and happily raise dogs and children together. Being proactive rather than reactive is key to creating safety and harmony in the home. It doesn’t happen without the guidance from the parents.
Thinking critically rather than emotionally about which might be the best doggie companion for your family will offer the greatest opportunity for a long and happy life for both the dog and for your family. Once you decide on the right pup for your family, then let the emotions fly, because you’re now ready to fill your home with more joy than you’ve ever imagined possible.
Cabinets are a primary feature in any renovation project. However, the same aesthetic attributes cabinetry adds to a kitchen design – via door panel styles – can actually detract from your kitchen’s look and function if you aren’t careful. Yet, sometimes, it’s best to skip cabinets for certain applications, opting for open shelving instead.

About one week after Tesla billionaire Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, the company laid off half its workforce, leaving axed employees sharing stories of confusion and chaos over how it all went down.
Top executives were fired last week immediately after Musk took control, but the company’s sweeping layoffs started Friday after a company-wide email sent on Thursday informed staff that some would abruptly lose their jobs the following day. Some employees learned they were fired not through a manager, but because they were kicked off Twitter’s internal systems or locked out of their work laptops without any notice or explanation.
At least one Twitter employee was booted from the company’s system in the middle of a call about Twitter Blue, three sources familiar with the meeting told The New York Times. The group, led by project manager Esther Crawford, was discussing updates to the subscription product and issues when one person just dropped off the call, the sources said.
Musk has been criticized over how the layoffs were handled. Several former Twitter employees filed a lawsuit on Thursday in California accusing Twitter of violating the WARN Act, a federal law that mandates businesses with 100 employees or more to give 60 days notice of mass layoffs.
“This is a master class in how not to do it,” Sandra Sucher, a Harvard University professor who studies layoffs, told the Times, noting it was uncommon to see layoffs of this scale done so rapidly without a clear explanation. “If you were going to rank order ways to upset people, telling them you’re going to do it in advance, without rationale, that is a particularly inhumane way to treat them.”
Rachel Bonn, a former Twitter employee who is eight months pregnant, said she lost access to her work laptop Thursday night hours after Musk said layoffs were coming. Another former Twitter employee, Chris Younie, said he was also abruptly unable to turn on his work laptop or log into his emails at around 3 a.m. on Friday.
In a tweet, Musk said of the layoffs that the company had “no choice” because it was losing more than $4 million per day. He also said that everyone was offered three months of severance pay.

The discourse around the reordering of priorities as well as long-standing power dynamics within the industry — brought on by growing consumer awareness and the democratisation of fashion through digitalisation and social media, and geared towards making fashion more sustainable and inclusive — has already taken centre stage in recent years. And, as expected, the return of the physical format of FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week in March 2022, after two years of caution exhibited through phygital versions in a post-pandemic world, gave fresh impetus to the conversation around the relevance of fashion weeks, one of the many contentious facets of an industry in need of dire change.
In an effort to create a roadmap for the future, Verve brings to you a motley collection of opinions to dissect the legitimacy of the pride of place fashion weeks have come to enjoy over time and across the world despite the dissonance created by an outdated model that leaves much to be desired in terms of access and financial yields. Pointing towards a spate of changes deemed vital to make fashion weeks more current, experiential and interpersonal, these reiterate the need to challenge the status quo and reclaim a more authentic face of fashion, most visible perhaps in fashion week’s potential to inspire and offer a space for celebration, drive innovation, mould talent, make statements and address collective cultural histories.
At the latest edition of the event, members of the fashion fraternity weigh in on the pros and cons, the return to the idea of the fashion show as spectacle powered by celebrities and influencers, and the importance of reinvention:
Rajesh Pratap Singh
“It gives us a timetable, a singular platform for designers and their communication. A calendar for the industry. And it makes the experience convenient for buyers.” -Rajesh Pratap Singh of his eponymous label.
Abraham & Thakore
“Fashion showcases serve different purposes to different stakeholders. Firstly, fashion shows are a great platform for us designers to creatively spotlight our unique values to merchandisers, buyers and fashion industry professionals. Secondly, we get to speak to the media directly as well as through our showcase, which gives us a voice. Thirdly, in this age of social media, we also get to speak directly to the consumers, who can participate remotely.” -David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore of Abraham & Thakore.
Eka
“At the moment, there aren’t many buyers. Fashion week is more of a media exercise nowadays. Thanks to the amount of stimulation we receive on social media in terms of the influx of labels and fashion imagery, the creative industry has been pushed to a corner. Perhaps we need to reinvent the model of fashion weeks. As much as I enjoy presenting on the runway, it does not always translate into business.” -Rina Singh of Eka.
Pankaj & Nidhi
“Fashion shows should experiment and take risks. They ought to inspire upcoming designers and not just target the influencer market. Designers get to tell their stories, achieving creative satisfaction. But, somehow, glamour has taken up a large space, the showstoppers are ready before the garments.” -Mohit Ahuja, influencer.
Satya Paul
“Fashion week was a refreshing experience after so long. After the gloom of the pandemic, everybody needed a cause for celebration, and fashion week solidified the fact that fashion is not dead. It proved the relevance of designers, old and new.” -Ankith ES, stylist.
Studio Medium
“The interaction and engagement rate on social media is higher during these events and it helps your page reach new audiences. They lead to a lot of new enquiries, some of which do turn out to be fruitful!” -Riddhi Jain of Studio Medium.
Keeping hydrated is important for all of us — our dogs, too. How much water our dogs are drinking can actually tell us a lot about their general health.
Excessive thirst in dogs can result from something as simple as recent exercise to a more complex underlying medical condition.
Dr. Annette Louviere, of Wisdom Panel pet DNA testing service, says that while dogs can normally change their water intake from day-to-day, any fluctuation that persists or any sudden, drastic changes in their habits could be an indicator of an underlying health condition.
What causes excessive thirst and urination in dogs?
Dr. Louviere says other causes of increased water intake in dogs include the type of food they’re eating (dry food can make them more thirsty), hot weather, playing, certain medications, infection and even boredom.
She says increased urination in dogs could have several causes. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) or urinary stones may be the culprit in many cases. More serious kidney disorders or endocrine conditions like Cushing’s disease, are possible, too.
Signs of kidney disease in dogs
Excessive thirst may also be a sign of kidney disease in dogs. Other signs of kidney disease in dogs may include:
Increased (or sometimes decreased) urination
Lethargy
Lack of appetite
Nausea and vomiting
Weight loss
Signs of diabetes in dogs
Signs of diabetes in dogs also include excessive drinking, along with:
Increased urination
Weight loss — especially paired with increased appetite
Chronic or recurrent infections
But drinking more water isn’t always a sign of a larger medical problem. Dr. Louviere says it’s good to consider the big picture and take into account if there are any other notable changes — like appetite or energy levels — as well as your dog’s age and lifestyle.
When should you be concerned?
Dr. Louviere says to see a vet if you notice any fluctuation from your dog’s normal level of water drinking that is persistent — or if you see sudden, drastic changes in your dog’s drinking habits. If your dog is drinking much more water than usual and he’s a senior, a trip to the vet is a good idea. When in doubt, give your vet a call. Note any other unusual symptoms your dog is exhibiting — like changes in appetite levels and urination.
She says a vet will likely start with a physical exam in order to determine the best course of action. Then bloodwork and urinalysis to help rule out (or rule in) different conditions like kidney disease, diabetes or Cushing’s disease.
Water intoxication in dogs
While keeping hydrated is important, our dogs can get too much water. Dr. Louviere says there’s a condition called water intoxication often seen in dogs who like to play in water for long periods — especially those who continuously lap at the water while playing in it. It’s rare but severe cases are potentially fatal.
Symptoms of water intoxication may include:
Lethargy
Loss of coordination
Nausea and vomiting
Excessive salivation
Bloating
Dilated pupils
Trouble breathing
Seizures
Coma
What to know about dogs drinking water
Monitoring how much water your dog is drinking can help pet parents gain valuable information about dog health. But it doesn’t always mean something serious. Sometimes it just means your dog is hot.
For pet parents with water-loving dogs who enjoy playing in the pool regularly, water intoxication is something to keep in mind. Dogs can ingest too much water while playing in water that can lead to this potentially fatal condition. Keep an eye on how much water your dog is taking in during water play and give him plenty of breaks to relieve himself.
Generally, if you notice any big changes in your dog’s water drinking, pay your vet a visit and note any other changes in your dog to help determine if there’s an underlying medical issue.
Tuscan kitchens have always been a popular design style because of the warmth and comfort this look conveys. As we know, the kitchen is the place where so much family activity occurs.
A kitchen with a well-worn comfortable atmosphere makes everyone feel welcome and at ease. A Tuscan kitchen creates this style with effortless ease through the use of natural materials, vibrant color, and creative patterns according to Better Homes & Gardens.
If you have not yet had the pleasure of visiting this gorgeous region of Italy, you may well wonder what this location has to do with kitchens. Tuscany is one of the twenty regions of Italy and is located in the northern central area along the west of the country.
Most of the countryside of Tuscany is covered in mountains and rolling green hills which are dominated by olive groves and vineyards. The love and rich culture surrounding food cannot be understated in Tuscany.
The architecture of Tuscany features elements that are sturdy and simple. This is visible in the exterior of Tuscan homes but the interior areas like kitchens as well. You will notice elements including terracotta, travertine, exposed wood, decorative metal, and fireplaces. You do not have to have all of these elements to have a Tuscan inspired kitchen. Instead, use these elements to help your home feel more comfortable all with the relaxed elegance for which Italians are so famous.
Tuscan Kitchen Details
Not every Tuscan kitchen design will include all the same elements of design, but there is a general look and feel that all Tuscan style kitchens share.
Italy is known for its brilliant sun-washed color choices to match the brilliance of the Italian sunshine. Tuscan architecture is no different. In Tuscan kitchens, and in other architecture, you see an abundance of colors including terracotta, warm ochre yellow, and sea-inspired blue and greens. Painted wood is a common theme in Tuscany kitchens as well as the use of colored tile and glass.
An authentic Tuscan kitchen is one of the most well-used spaces in the home. So, a Tuscan themed kitchen should look well-used as well. This might include wooden countertops that are nicked and scratched or rough stone floors.
Tuscan kitchens have such sturdy materials as their foundation that you do not need to fear that this well-placed wearing will make them vulnerable to decay. Instead, it just makes your room more comfortable.
Tuscany is well known for both its terracotta and ceramic tiles. You can create a colorful Tuscan style using Moroccan inspired designs that were brought to Italy by Venetian merchants.
All Tuscan style kitchens have an earthy and textured appeal. From the walls to the floor and ceiling, there are ways to incorporate and layer natural materials. Consider terracotta tile floors to bring in deep earthy red tones to the kitchen.
You could also use natural stone like slate or travertine tiles to incorporate an earthy element that is more subdued in color. Add in other textural elements like dark wooden furniture and exposed beams.
Traditional Tuscany kitchen spaces have dark wood cabinetry, sometimes painted but often left natural. The cabinet doors will sometimes have a raised panel style door with decorative accents like carved embellishments, ornate corbels, edge twists, ornate vent hoods, and glass fronted or open shelving either in free-standing or fixed cabinets.
It is the little things that are sometimes the most important when it comes to creating Tuscan kitchen decor. Tuscan kitchen style utilizes wrought iron in many ways including to create pot racks, detailing on furniture, or a dramatic chandelier.
Decorate your walls with other details like stenciling which was a common feature in Tuscan kitchens. If you have the opportunity to enlarge or create another opening in the kitchen, create an arch and line it with a brick facade to give your room a more Tuscan style.
Tuscany is the home of wonderful wine and food, but it is also the origin of many amazing works of art. Display wall art to add some extra color into your kitchen. Focus on landscape and still life art for a more authentic Italian style.
Varied Tuscan Kitchen Design Styles
Whether you want to go “all-in” with your Tuscan kitchen design or just dabble around the edges, there are ways to bring home the comfort of Tuscan design to different types of kitchen designs.
One amazing quality of the Mediterranean Tuscan kitchen style is that it does not have to be all or nothing. So if the full-blown look is too much for you, you can mix certain elements with sleek modern styling to create a contemporary kitchen with some rustic edges.
This Mediterranean kitchen from Taylor + Taylor is the perfect example. They begin with creamy Tuscan wall tile, rustic natural cabinets, and free-standing hutch. Then, they blend them with contemporary forest green cabinets and modern style vent hood. It creates a sleek contemporary kitchen with a comfortable and timeless feel.
Some Tuscany kitchens feature more details that have a simple and rural quality. This rustic Tuscan kitchen from Ryan Street Architects builds this kitchen around details like rough exposed beam ceilings, stone walls and a whitewashed backsplash.
They contrast these elements with the elegant pendant lighting and raised panel cabinets. This use of mixed materials and styles gives the kitchen an aged and comfortable look that remains very much on-trend with current styles of design.
If you don’t have a palatial home, this doesn’t mean that you can’t have a Tuscan inspired kitchen if you desire. This small kitchen designed by Nice Home Barcelona uses a Tuscan tile flooring to create their biggest impact in the kitchen.
Nice details like the butcher block countertops and the sky blue painted trim complete some of the Tuscan style decor in this small kitchen design.
Many traditional Tuscan kitchen designs feature dark cabinets and colorful decor. But more contemporary Tuscan kitchen styles have changed to meet the “all white” look that is common in modern kitchens.
Lissa Lee Hickman designed this modern white Tuscan style kitchen using key Mediterranean style notes like rustic wood beams and tiled backsplash and mixed them with all white cabinets and decor.
Marble is not a common element of Tuscan kitchen style, but it looks right at home as part of this transitional Tuscan kitchen design. Cornerstone Architects used common Tuscan design features like dark wood floors, colored tile backsplash, and the wrought iron light fixture and combined them with the waterfall marble island to create a kitchen style that is trendy yet warm.
The Timeless Style of Tuscan Kitchens
Trends come and go and Tuscan style kitchens are no exception. The heavy and ornate Tuscan kitchen styles do look dated, but there are ways that designers are reinventing this style to make it work with modern homes. They use many of the organic textures, natural materials, tiles, and colors associated with Tuscan style to create contemporary style kitchens that feel authentic and timeless.
Tuscan kitchens have a warm and comfortable style that we all crave in our family spaces. While not everyone wants to embrace all of the Tuscan kitchen decor to the full, it is easy to use elements like terracotta tiles, natural stone, dark wood accents, and splashes of color to enliven any kitchen style.

Thousands of Twitter staffers will be finding out if their jobs are affected by Elon Musk’s layoffs on Friday morning at 9 a.m. pacific time.
Per an internal memo which was sent to employees on Thursday, the terms of people’s employment will be sent to either their personal or professional inboxes, Insider’s Kali Hays reported. Those whose employment is affected will be receive notice in their personal emails. Those whose employment is not affected will be notified via their work emails, per Musk’s memo.
All of the company’s offices are being temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended, the memo said.
“If you are in an office or on your way to an office, please return home,” the memo stated.
Shortly after 8 p.m. PT on Thursday night, some employees started to get locked out Slack and email, Insider reported.
Some employees have already begun updating their professional channels about being impacted by the layoffs, with many of them expressing frustration at having received no communication of their impending departures.
“I got logged off company Gmail and slack in the evening along with my teammates. No communication or notice whatsoever,” one staffer, whose profile says she worked for Twitter for almost two years, wrote in a LinkedIn post late on Thursday.
Another employee wrote on LinkedIn: “Just got remotely logged out of my company laptop and removed from Twitter Slack. So sad it had to end this way.” The employee had worked as a community manager at Twitter for just over a year, per their profile.
“I had the pleasure of working with amazing Tweeps who showed incredible resilience and compassion during this entire ordeal. This isn’t what we asked for but we made the best of it,” another staff member, a data program manager who had been at the company for eight months, wrote on LinkedIn.
Advice is also pouring in for affected employees.
Lawyer Lisa Bloom tweeted late Thursday: “CA’s “WARN” law requires Twitter to give you 60 days notice of a massive layoff,” adding, “I know you didn’t get that notice.”
