Whether you’re exhausted after a long work day or home late from a night on the town, removing makeup before bed can feel like an insurmountable task. Between waterproof mascara, smudge-proof foundation and lip stain that lives up to its name, sometimes it can seem easier to just ignore the chore and deal with it in the morning. We’re here to tell you that removing makeup is a non-negotiable for the long-term health of your skin. Read on to find out how to make the whole process easier on you and your complexion.

What Happens When You Don’t Remove Makeup? How To Remove Your Makeup | How To Remove Special Occasion Makeup | What To Do After Removing Makeup

What Happens When You Don’t Remove Your Makeup?

Is sleeping in your makeup really that bad? In a word, “yes”! New York City-based board-certified dermatologist Dr. Charlotte Birnbaum explains: “Oil, dirt, pollutants and makeup when left on the skin [overnight] can lead to breakouts, irritation, styes and even accelerated aging of the skin.” In other words, you’re doing damage when you go to bed without a good cleanse. Taking five minutes to tackle the issue head on will make a world of difference now and later.

And we get it, after a long day or night out, it can be tempting to hit the sheets without washing your makeup off, but this skin care step isn’t optional. While one slip-up won’t ruin your complexion, consistently skipping your nighttime cleanse can cause cumulative damage. Some of the other effects of inconsistent makeup removal include:

    • Dull skin
    • Free radical damage
    • Clogged pores
    • Inflammation

Skin renews itself overnight, so when you leave makeup on, you are interfering with the skin’s natural turnover process whereby dead and damaged skin cells are shed from the surface and replaced by new, healthy cells. Hence the term “beauty sleep.”

    How To Remove Your Makeup

Now that we’ve established that going to bed with makeup on is not the move, what’s the best way to remove it?

    Double Cleansing

It’s been buzzy in the skin care world for a minute, and for good reason. Double cleansing is the most effective way to break down makeup and other surface impurities like dirt and oil. This face washing technique begins with an oil-based cleanser, followed by a second cleanser of your choice, usually gel-based or foaming.

Double cleansing can seem daunting to anyone with oily skin but don’t let it scare you. The reasoning behind slathering your face in oils in the name of cleansing stems from the idea that “like dissolves like.” According to Healthline: “Putting clean, nourishing oils on your skin aims to help … lift excess sebum, the oily substance produced by glands on your skin, clean out clogged pores, like blackheads and whiteheads, and remove dead skin, pollutants and makeup.”

Because oil attracts oil, it’s a gentle first step to get rid of some of the pollution, dead skin, makeup and general gunk of the day that have accumulated on your face. This is why many makeup removers contain oil. Makes sense, right?

Ready to give this a try? These are the steps to perform a double cleanse:

    1. Break down makeup with a cleansing oil, balm or a creamy cleanser. The oil in the cleanser will solubilize oil-based products like foundation and mascara so they lift easily from your skin’s surface. Warm a small bit of Stone Crop Cleansing Oil in your hand. Then, use your fingers to swipe it across your eyelids and lips and use circular motions to lightly massage it over your face. Rinse clean with lukewarm water. Another good option is the Coconut Milk Cleanser, which is creamy and gentle enough for all skin types.
    2. Remove remaining impurities with a second cleanser. Now that you’ve loosened and lifted your makeup, you need to sweep away stubborn dirt, grime and bacteria that are left on the skin. Simply apply your favorite cleanser to wash your skin more deeply and target specific skin concerns such as acne or aging. With this two-step process, you clear both types of impurities that can clog pores, dull your skin and contribute to premature aging. Ideally, the second cleanser should be gel-based or foaming.

The Stone Crop Gel Wash is designed for all skin types. It hydrates while cleansing thanks to the inclusion of shea butter and stone crop ingredients. For those with problem skin, consider the Acne Advanced Cleansing Foam to clear blocked pores and clean the skin. This foam features time-released encapsulated salicylic acid to unclog pores, and contains a natural herb blend. Alternately, if you’re concerned with large pores, the Mangosteen Daily Resurfacing Cleanser minimizes the appearance of pores. This milky gel contains a Lactic Acid Complex that works together with mangosteen to give the skin a smoother, more radiant complexion by sloughing off dead skin.

    Other Makeup Removal Tips

    Avoid Cleansing Wipes

Skip the cleansing wipes. While they may be convenient, most makeup wipes won’t fully remove your makeup. As James C. Marotta, MD tells Good Housekeeping, “very few makeup wipes contain ingredients that can actually break down all of your face oils, makeup and gunk on your skin, so you’re really just rubbing bacteria, irritants and makeup wipe residue around your skin.” Plus, many cleansing wipes contain chemical ingredients and preservatives that can irritate the skin and cause dryness. And if you’re looking for one more sign to ditch the wipes, think of their impact on the earth. Most makeup wipes aren’t biodegradable, and some estimates suggest that over 20 million pounds of them end up in landfills every day!

    Removing Eye Makeup

Waterproof mascara and eyeliner can be notoriously difficult to remove. If you’ve done a double cleanse, you’ve probably removed most of your eye makeup, but it’s worth touching up the area with a natural and organic product like our Herbal Eye Make-up Remover

Don’t forget, the skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate, so it’s important to be gentle. Instead of scrubbing vigorously, saturate a cotton pad with remover and hold it over each eye for ten seconds. This will give the remover time to break up and dissolve the makeup products before you gently wipe them off. If you need to get into the eye line and inner corners, gently wipe with a cotton swab to complete your cleanse.

Don’t Forget Your Neck And Hairline

You may have removed a layer of foundation from your face, but be sure you haven’t skipped your neck and hairline. If you stop short of these easy-to-miss areas, you can accumulate makeup residue that clogs pores and leads to breakouts. Pull back your hair with a headband and extend your face wash past your jaw to ensure you catch every last bit of makeup.

Try our Calm Skin Chamomile Cleanser to remove the impurities of the day from your skin. Infused with chamomile, arnica and rosemary, this calming cream cleanser is perfect for sensitive skin prone to redness and makes a great second step in a double cleanse.

If you’re fighting the appearance of breakouts, our Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser is the best choice to remove excess sebum from your complexion. It’s a clarifying cream-gel cleanser that treats oily and problem skin with cucumber and tea tree oil. Sweet almond milk and yogurt reduce the visible signs of problem skin without stripping the skin of moisture. In other words, it can help your skin recover from past “mistakes.”

    Removing Special Occasion Makeup

Some occasions (like your wedding day) call for heavy-duty makeup, while others (Halloween parties) require full-fledged face paint. Whether your look is more romantic comedy or horror movie, the removal part can be a little scary. But fear not, we have a few tips, tricks and treats to help.

    Wedding Makeup

Since wedding makeup is essentially just long-wearing and waterproof makeup, you don’t have to veer too far from your usual routine, with a couple of exceptions. You have probably been spending extra time taking care of your skin leading up to the big day, so don’t stress too much about the aftermath of a very long day in full makeup, but all the more reason to get it off before bed!

Start with the eyes. Your false eyelashes may have stayed on through your vows, first dance and those tear-jerker speeches, but they shouldn’t stay on overnight. Just like with waterproof mascara, your best bet is to use makeup remover on a cotton round and hold it over the eye for 10 or more seconds. This should loosen the glue and allow you to gently pull the false lashes off without taking any of your real ones with them. If you don’t have eye makeup remover, use your oil-based first step from your double-cleansing routine or simply place a warm, moist face cloth over the eye for 10 seconds. Long wearing eye shadow can be removed the same way. Make sure you’re treating the delicate area gently to avoid causing irritation to the skin.

To tackle the heavy-duty foundation, a double cleanse is recommended. Follow the instructions above and if you have the time and energy, finish off with an overnight mask to help replenish any moisture. The Kombucha Microbiome Leave-On Masque is a great option.

    Halloween Makeup

Halloween makeup is a whole different beast. Not only is it usually applied with a heavier hand than regular makeup, it can be a nightmare for your skin. While we strongly advise against it, the face paint sold at Halloween stores often gets used that one night of the year. As with all products you apply to your body, do your best to avoid ingredients like heavy metals, formaldehyde and petrolatum.

To remove your Halloween makeup, start with an oil-based cleanser like the Stone Crop Cleansing Oil or a cream-based cleanser like the Coconut Milk Cleanser. Another option that can help break through that thick layer is the Kombucha Microbiome Foaming Cleanser. Crafted with micelles, an aggregate of mild surfactants gently trap and lift oil, dirt and debris like a magnet from the skin. The liquid-to-foam formula gently breaks down the makeup without overdrying.

The next step in the process is a second cleanse. Whether the first cleanser was oil-based or foamy, chances are, there is still some makeup lingering. A gel or foaming cleanser is your best bet. And follow that with a swipe of toner like the Pineapple Refining Tonique for a gentle exfoliation or the Kombucha Microbiome Balancing Essence help soothe dry, dull skin.

Pro tip: If your costume included body or face glitter, a lint roller will lift it off the skin. The adhesive is much gentler than what you’ll find in regular tape (which is what a lot of people use).

    Use Steam

Still not feeling squeaky clean? You can give your skin a facial steam to deepen your cleanse. Steam softens surface debris and releases any leftover grime and makeup that is still trapped in your pores after washing. Follow these steps for a facial steam at home:

    1. Fill your sink or a bowl with hot water.
    2. Place a large towel over your head.
    3. Hover your face 5 – 10 inches away from the steam. Lower or raise your head for more or less heat.
    4. Steam for 5 – 10 minutes (we recommend 2-minute intervals so you don’t overheat).

What To Do After You’ve Removed Your Makeup

Makeup removal gives your skin a clean slate, but it needs to be followed with proper care to maintain your skin’s health and resilience. After cleansing, continue your skin care routine with these essential steps:

Renovated Ibizan finca retains rustic charm as Aguamadera hotel

    [ad_1]

A 19th-century farmhouse hidden away in the mountains of Ibiza has been converted into a hotel, where guests stay inside earthy, minimalist suites with interiors conceived by creative director Carlota Sarda Caralps.

The remote Aguamadera resort opened earlier this year and was designed as “a secluded hideaway home” with a focus on nature, wellness and food.

A 19th-century farmhouse has been converted into a boutique hotel

The brainchild of Pacha Group co-founder Iria Urgell and hospitality entrepreneur Pablo Fernández-Valdés, the hotel was designed under the creative direction of Sarda Caralps.

Positioned atop a hill near the beach resort of Cala Llonga, the finca – or farmhouse – and its outbuildings constructed in 1888 were converted to accommodate seven guest rooms and four suites.

The pink flowers of a large bougainvillea tree contrast the whitewashed building

The renovated whitewashed structures sit among 27 acres of pine forests, olive groves and terraced agricultural land, from which much of the produce used in the hotel’s restaurant is sourced.

The name Aguamadera is derived from the Spanish words for water and wood, in a nod to the fact that the hotel hopes to promote healing through nature in its rural setting.

A covered porch features built-in seating for lounging

This translates into the design through the use of natural materials like clay plaster walls, wooden furniture, linen textiles and jute carpets.

Simplicity reigns throughout the resort. The textured plasterwork forms organically shaped surfaces and the cement floors complement the neutral palette.

Small pendant lights hang from the exposed ceiling beams in the casual dining area

The main building is minimally decorated with locally crafted furniture, objects and a rotating series of works by Ibizan artists.

“Our venue serves as a vessel between artists and guests,” said the operators.

“Aguamadera presents pieces of art for a limited time only where paintings, sculptures, environmental art and rare objects are integrated within the hotel experience.”

    Built-in wall niches
Furniture, objects and works by local artists and artisans are displayed throughout

Towards the back is the restaurant, where the kitchen and its wood-fired oven are completely open to the casual dining area.

Small pendant lights suspended from the exposed wooden ceiling beams softly illuminate the tables, which are set with tableware by British artisan and artist Sarah Jerath.

The old farmhouse accommodates seven guest rooms

“Cosy, easy-going and fresh, the space allows you to explore the valley from within with sunset views,” the team said.

“In the essence of the winter season, a colossal fireplace evokes nostalgic charm.”

The rooms have a monastic quality and are furnished with only the essentials

Spread over two floors, the guest rooms in the farmhouse have a monastic quality, with the earth-toned furnishings and decor elements reduced to only what’s necessary.

Larger multi-room suites are located in corrals – the outbuildings that formerly housed livestock – and have the same visual language as the other spaces.

Cushioned loungers surround the swimming pool, which overlooks the valley beyond

“Rustic wood finishes, built-in furniture, quality materials and soft textures are highlighted through sculptural silhouettes, the cornerstone of our design,” said the team.

Across the site, several terraces facing the surrounding valleys offer outdoor spaces for guests to eat, drink and relax.

A covered porch is lined with built-in seats for lounging and is further shaded by a bougainvillaea tree, whose pink flowers starkly contrast the building’s white walls.

The pool terrace below features chunky cushioned loungers placed on terracotta tiles and is wrapped by a low dry-stone wall.

Sunset is best enjoyed from cushions and mats placed under a huge tree on the opposite side of the building to the pool, where a large al fresco dining area is also located.

Details include hollow bricks with patterned faces embedded into the walls, which glow softly at night to help guests navigate around the site.

Aguamadera hosts a variety of activities for guests and the local community, from exhibitions and workshops to wellness offerings such as sound meditations, rituals and ceremonies.

Ibiza is renowned the world over as a party destination but visitors are beginning to appreciate its natural beauty and rural charm, too.

Several of the island’s old farmhouses have been converted into hotels or private villas, including a 200-year-old stone building that was turned into the members-only retreat La Granja.

The historic port city of Eivissa has also seen a recent renaissance, with locations from international groups The Standard and Experimental both opening within the past couple of years.

Some wearables, like Garmin’s Forerunner line, are designed for runners with tools geared towards improving someone’s running style or technique, while others, like the Suunto 9 Peak, excel at tracking a wider range of outdoor activities like hiking, climbing, or swimming.

Once you know the kinds of activities you’ll use the wearable for most, then you can look at other features it may offer like sleep tracking or workout recommendations. Classifying a single tracker as “the best” all comes down to how it fits in with your current lifestyle.

How much should I spend on a fitness tracker?

This depends on your budget. Fitness trackers range in price from around $80 or $90 for wearables like the Fitbit Inspire 3, to up to $800 or more for high-end options like the Garmin Epix Pro or Apple Watch Ultra.

Higher-priced fitness trackers offer more in the way of advanced features, such as in-depth sleep monitoring or blood oxygen tracking. However, cheaper models are still effective options that count steps and burned calories while also tracking a variety of activities.

Will there be better deals during Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Although we don’t know what deals will be available during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it’s likely the discounts are very similar. We expect to see comparable discounts during Prime Big Deal Days as we saw during the Prime Day event over the summer — and we anticipate seeing the same during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, too.

    [ad_1]

How can I find the date code and serial number on Plantronics Headsets?

The Plantronics/Poly date code of your headset designates its date of manufacture, and it’s used to establish your warranty period. The date code is generally listed with your product’s model and part number, although this is not always the case.  The date code consist of one letter and one number (i.e J7). The serial number starts with the letter S/N: (i.e. S/N: AB0-000)

There are various locations where you can find the S/N and date code: It can vary greatly from model to model and the age of the headset. Here are some example locations.  You may have to look on all these locations to find it.

  • How Much Do Quartz Countertops Cost?

How Much Do Quartz Countertops Cost?

    [ad_1]

On average, quartz countertops cost $4,500, including installation. Most projects will be in the $1,500 to $5,500 range, but higher-end installations cost over $10,000. You should expect to pay between $50 and $200 per square foot, including labor and materials.

    Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are incredibly durable, highly resistant to scratches and stains, and come in various colors and finishes, making them very attractive to homeowners looking to power up their kitchen or bathroom.

Factors That Affect Quartz Countertop Costs

The main factor determining how much quartz countertops cost to install is the size and quality of the quartz countertop itself.

Number of Slabs or Amount of Material

A slab is a flat piece of engineered quartz, 5×10 feet or around 50 square feet. Uncut slabs cost $50 to $100 per square foot. That means an average slab costs $2,500 to $5,000. Depending on the size of your intended countertop, you may need to buy more than one slab.

    Quartz Grade

The grade is determined by the slab’s thickness, color hues, and percentage of quartz minerals and resin. Higher-grade quartz is more durable and aesthetically pleasing. Lower-grade quartz is still viable for many homeowners, but you may have to compromise on long-term durability and appearance.

    There are three quartz grades:

    • First choice: Top-quality quartz with the most vibrant colors and smoothest finishes. It costs from $80 to well over $100 per square foot
    • Commercial: It costs $65 to $75 per square foot. This is the most common type of quartz in the market and in homes.
    • Second choice: This type of quartz has more veining, has less vibrant colors, and has the most resin. It costs $50 to $65 per square foot.

    Labor

Professional contractors charge around $10 to $30 per square foot. That means an average uncut quartz slab costs $500 to $1,500 per square foot to install.

Adding slab and installation costs, the project will be in the $3,000 to $6,500 range.

Extra services like leveling or cutouts for fixtures and appliances increase the price and are charged separately.

    Finish

The quartz’s finish alters its appearance. The three quartz finishes are:

    • Honed or matte quartz: Honed quartz has a low-sheen surface due to being thoroughly smoothed out, making it good at hiding smears. Not all quartz slabs can get a honed finish.
    • Sueded: Sueded quartz results from adding polyacrylic to the quartz mixture. The matte-like surface is more textured than honed quartz, feeling like velvet.
    • Polished: The polished, high-sheen surface results from using fine abrasives. This finish is more reflective and looks glossier than the rest.

    Colors and Style

Quartz costs also depend on the color of the slab. These are some of the most popular colors on the market right now:

    • Jet Black: This is a low-maintenance and versatile alternative for homeowners who want a sleek look with minimal long-term effort. It costs $57 to $67 per square foot.
    • Atlantic Salt: Atlantic Salt is a light gray, peppered with whites, browns, and blacks. It costs $55 to $65 per square foot.
    • Calacatta Venice: This warm white quartz with subtle broad veining replicates the sought-after look of Italian marble. It costs $65 per square foot or more.
    • Rugged Concrete: This is a solid gray quartz with some white patches. It’s an industrial-inspired design with a rough matte surface finish. It costs $75 to $85 per square foot.

    Edge Treatment Type

Edge treatments modify the slab’s edge to make it less pointy (safer) and more visually appealing. Edge treatments cost $5 to $60 per linear foot. That means the edge work for an average uncut slab is between $150 and $3,600, depending on its perimeter and whether you round the top and bottom edges.

Since they vary significantly in cost, consider your countertop’s size and which treatment you want or need to avoid spending too much.

Edge treatment Description Cost per linear foot
Eased Slightly round edges $5 to $30
Straight Very slight rounding at the top and bottom $10 to $30
Half Bullnose Only the top side is slightly curved $10 to $30
Full Bullnose The top and bottom sides are rounded $10 to $45
Bevel The top and bottom edges have a 45-degree straight cut $20 to $45
Double Bullnose Two stacked bullnose-rounded edges $30 to $60
Ogee An S-shaped cut on the upper edge $30 – $60
Dupont Features a 90-degree angle at the top that works its way down into a quarter-round at the bottom $30 – $60

    Add-Ons

In addition to edge treatments, you may want your contractor to give corners a custom shape or seam two slabs together. Add-ons can cost up to a few hundred extra dollars.

Additional Quartz Countertops Cost Factors to Consider

The following are some extra costs some homeowners incur during the installation process.

    • Leveling the Cabinetry – Quartz countertops installed on uneven surfaces deteriorate faster and may crack. Leveling the cabinetry that will hold the countertop’s weight is part of the basic installation. Contractors may charge you more if the surface is uneven and they have to install more shims than usual between the floor and the cabinetry or use additional leveling methods.
    • Removal of Old Countertops – In case of remodelings, you’ll need to replace your current countertop with a new one. Removing a previous countertop costs $5 to $15 per square foot.
    • Cutouts – Quartz cutouts are openings and holes that accommodate fixtures, sinks, cooktops, faucets, and other items. Cutouts help integrate the countertop into your home. These cutouts require special equipment and cost extra. Each cutout costs around $25 to $110, depending on the size.
    • Polishing – Polishing your quartz countertop costs $4 to $6 per square foot and gives it a nice, shiny look. Quartz countertops are non-porous and don’t require sealing.

Quartz Countertops Costs: DIY vs. Hiring a Professional

Quartz countertops are nota DIY-friendly home improvement project. Quartz slabs are extremely heavy, and even parts of a slab can be hard to manipulate without multiple people. You also need specialized cutout equipment; any significant mistake means starting over with a new slab. For these reasons, we don’t recommend installing quartz countertops yourself.

That said, if you are experienced in quartz countertop installation, an uncut slab costs $2,500 to $5,000. You’ll also need to buy all the necessary materials and rent equipment for the cutouts. This could save you installation costs anywhere between $1,500 to $4,000.

What to look for in a standing desk

Height range: In order to prevent strain on your back, neck, or shoulders, your elbows should be at a 90-degree angle when using your standing desk. If you’re taller than 6 feet, you’ll want to opt for a desk that adjusts to at least 48 inches.

Max weight supported: If you have a heavy monitor or a cumbersome computer system, make sure to look into the maximum weight that your desk can support. Our top overall pick in our guide to the best standing desks can hold up to 350 pounds.

Length and depth: For people with less space or who live in an apartment, opt to buy a tabletop standing desk or one of the best standing desk converters. In order to maximize space, tabletop standing desks are great for moving around your space if you like changing environments when working from home.

Electric vs. manual: If you are sharing a standing desk with a roommate or partner, consider splurging on an electric option, which can be programmed to remember height preferences for various users.

Noise and speed: In a shared office space, you’ll want to be considerate of others and the noise that your desk could potentially produce. If you work from home or independently, you probably won’t care about noise. Keep in mind that an electric desk is a more efficient way to switch from sitting to standing throughout the day.

  • Face Masks 101: Benefits, Types & How Often You Should Use One

Face Masks 101: Benefits, Types & How Often You Should Use One

    [ad_1]

There’s nothing quite like a face mask to amp up your skin care routine. The right mask is not just an indulgent treat — it can also tackle a number of key skin concerns and conditions. Whether you’re dealing with dryness, fine lines, large pores, acne or a combination, there is a mask that will work for you. Read on to learn about the different types of face masks, how to apply them and which ones are right for your age range and unique complexion.

Benefits Of Masking | Types Of Face Masks | Face Mask For Your Skin Type | Face Mask For Your Age | How Often Should You Use A Face Mask?

Benefits Of Masking: What You Didn’t Know About Masks

Just like a serum or moisturizer, a face mask is a skin care vehicle. It delivers highly concentrated actives, vitamins and nutrients to the skin to improve its overall health. What makes face masks unique is that they are occlusive — meaning they create a physical barrier that locks in the beneficial ingredients, allowing the skin to absorb them more efficiently.

Face masks are designed to be used intermittently to give your skin an instant boost. Depending on what your skin needs, there is a mask that can do one (or a combination) of the following:

    • Hydrate and moisturize dry skin
    • Refine large pores
    • Improve skin texture
    • Absorb excess oil and dirt
    • Decongest clogged pores
    • Minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
    • Enhance elasticity
    • Improve the look of breakouts
    • Brighten dark spots

    Types Of Face Masks Available

With so many options out there, how do you choose the right face mask to cater to your unique needs? Let’s do a deeper dive to figure out which mask texture is right for you.

    Cream

Think of the texture of a rich moisturizer — that’s the best way to describe the feel of a cream-based mask. These face masks do wonders for adding moisture and nutrients back into the skin, helping maintain a plump and youthful-looking appearance.

Cream masks can target a range of conditions — from the visible signs of aging to problem skin. The Bamboo Age Corrective Masque and the Coconut Cream Masque both smooth the appearance of dry, dehydrated or aging skin overnight, while our Clear Skin Probiotic Masque suits acne-prone and oily skin types.

The Kombucha Microbiome Leave-On Masque is a no-rinse probiotic skin care formula that suits all skin types. It is designed to support the skin’s natural recovery process and maintain a healthy skin moisture barrier. This rich, slow-absorbing mask provides soothing hydration and comfort to dry, dull skin. And don’t stop there. Eminence Organics International Educator Brian Goodwin lets us in on a skin care secret: “An insider tip is that most of our cream-based masks can be used as a leave-on treatment.” In other words, keep it on for10 minutes or all night, and let that goodness sink in!

    Gel

Gel masks have the consistency of a jam or jelly. With their lightweight texture, they are an excellent choice for oily to normal skin types. Many gel masks include astringent ingredients like raspberries and blackberries which minimize oil and tighten the appearance of pores. Others are formulated with hydrating ingredients like stone crop and honey which replenish the look of dry and dehydrated skin

Our Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Masque is a great option for those in search of a firmer-looking complexion. It contains a cocktail of rhubarb extract, avocado oil, leafy greens and citrus. Whichever mask you choose, you can amplify your results with this skin care tip from Brian: “Apply your favorite gel-based mask in the shower to make it an active in-shower treatment.” The heat from the shower can open the pores and allow the skin to better absorb the beneficial ingredients.

    Clay

With its absorbent, exfoliating and astringent properties, clay treats ongoing skin conditions related to acne, such as excess oil and inflammation. A clay mask can also be applied just to the problem areas, meaning it can double as a spot treatment. Lead Skin Care Trainer Natalie Pergar recommends using the Acne Advanced Clarifying Masque to treat bumpy and congested skin: “It’s nice and creamy in texture, and you literally only need a bit … Just hit those little areas and let it dry.”

    Exfoliating

Exfoliating masks are formulated to remove dead skin cells and enhance your skin’s natural turnover process. This type of face mask may take the form of a chemical peel which employs alpha or beta hydroxy acids to dissolve dead skin cells and clear them from the skin’s surface. The hypoallergenic Radish Seed Refining Peel reduces the appearance of problem skin and the look of fine lines and wrinkles. For pore-clearing exfoliating benefits, our Product Support Representatives recommend pairing it with either our Yellow Sweet Clover Anti-Redness Masque for drier skin types or our Seabuckthorn Balancing Masque for combination skin.

    Warming

Warming masks contain active spices like paprika and cinnamon that cause a tingling sensation and make the skin feel warm. This is the result of increased blood flow to the area, which also explains the rosy glow that some might experience. The immediate effects last from 20 – 60 minutes before revealing a fresh, healthy complexion. However, these masks aren’t for everyone: If you have sensitive skin, you’re better off choosing a cream or gel-based mask that won’t exacerbate your symptoms.

One of our warming masks, the Eight Greens Phyto Masque – Hot has been recognized as a 2020 Allure Best Of Beauty Award winner within the “Clean Beauty” category. Blended from whole plants, seeds and spices, this formula invigorates and rejuvenates the appearance of the skin.

Our Turmeric Energizing Treatment is also designed to awaken dull, tired skin. Formulated with turmeric as well as citrine gemstones and zeolite, this mask only needs water to activate a fluffy mousse bursting with energy.

Watch our In The Mix video below to find out more about our warming face masks:

The Best Face Mask For Your Skin Type

If you prefer to use one mask at a time, it’s important to choose the right face mask for your skin type and skin concerns. To get your wheels turning, here are our suggestions for each skin type:

    Dry Skin

Dry skin often means dealing with flaky patches, a scaly skin texture or cracked, itchy skin. Boasting shea butter and grape seed oil, the Strawberry Rhubarb Masque provides important fatty acids to help with the appearance of skin softness and dryness.

    Oily Skin

Oily skin is characterized by an overproduction of sebum in the skin. Often this excess oil may interact with bacteria and dead skin cells resulting in breakouts. Try the Citrus & Kale Potent C+E Masque for this skin type as it contains Vitamins C and E to improve the appearance of skin health.

Customer Nina T. said in an online review: “Amazing smelling masque that really works magic on your skin!! … when you wash it off your skin looks hydrated and refreshed!!!”

    Combination Skin

It can be frustrating to develop oily patches on your chin and forehead but dryness on your cheeks. The Snow Mushroom & Reishi Masque helps to balance the look of the skin by firming its appearance and revealing a smooth radiance.

You can also treat combination skin with more than one mask. Spot masking (or multi-masking) is done by applying different masks to different parts of the face all at once. For example, if your T-zone is oily, but your cheeks are dry, applying masks that address the specific issue in each area of the face can provide a super customized treatment that targets the issue without aggravating the rest of your combination skin.

    Sensitive Skin

Those with sensitive skin should carefully read labels and conduct patch tests for any new product before applying it all over the face. If you do have a reaction, you can apply the Calm Skin Arnica Masque to improve the look of redness caused by dryness and other irritation.

    Normal Skin

If you have normal skin, then your goal is to maintain your skin’s health. The Stone Crop Masque contains hydrating stone crop, antioxidant-rich lemon and other ingredients that reduce the appearance of wrinkles and improve the overall look of the skin.

If you’re looking to address particular skin concerns and conditions, here are some recommendations:

The Best Type Of Face Mask For Your Age

Now that you know what product suits you by skin concern, you can also filter based on ingredients suited to your age bracket.

Still not sure which mask is right for you? A great way to test out some of our best-selling masks is with our limited edition Mix & Masque Trio Gift Set. Enjoy three of our most popular masks, designed to be mixed, layered together or explored individually to bring out refreshed and visibly rejuvenated skin. These three potent masks can be paired however you like to target your skin’s unique needs. Use each mask individually to reap its benefits or match in multiple ways to create your perfect masking ritual. Perfect for gifting to a loved one or to yourself!

How Often Should You Use A Face Mask?

Now that you know which masks are right for your skin, the next question is: How often should you apply a face mask? We recommend adding a face mask to your skin care routine once or twice a week. Masking should follow cleansing and toning. These steps clear impurities and excess oil, provide a base layer of hydration and prep your skin to better absorb the benefits of your face mask.

Once you’re ready, follow these skin care tips to apply a face mask properly:

    1. Apply Mask Evenly

It may be tempting to slather on an inch-thick layer of product, but more isn’t necessarily better. A cherry-sized amount is plenty to achieve the results you’re looking for. Natalie advises evenly applying this amount in a “pantyhose-thin” layer over the entire face. Pro tip: Use facial massage techniques to amp up the benefits of this part of your routine!

Remember, Eminence Organics face masks contain concentrated amounts of beneficial vitamins and nutrients. We recommend adding two to three drops of water to your product and warming it between your hands before massaging it into your face — especially if the product is gel-based. This will allow for more slip, easier application and (bonus!) less product waste.

    2. Remember To Include Your Neck & Décolleté

That cherry-sized amount is just enough to also include your neck and chest. These areas take on the visible signs of age much earlier than the face due to their exposure to environmental stress — and they’re easily forgotten in a skin care routine. Pay these areas a bit of extra attention by including them in your mask application.

    3. Leave On For 5 – 10 Minutes

Most masks can be kept on for 5 – 10 minutes, but the duration can vary from mask to mask. Some face masks act quickly and can be removed after a short period of time, while others can be left on as an overnight treatment to deeply hydrate your skin while you sleep. We always advise reviewing the label directions to apply your particular product so you get the most out of it without overdoing it!

    4. Remove Gently With A Damp Cloth

Don’t undo the benefits of your face mask by aggressively scrubbing it off. Instead, be delicate with your complexion. Use lukewarm water to gently remove the mask from your face. If you choose to use a washcloth, ensure it’s clean and has soft fibers that won’t irritate your skin.

Watch this video for a step-by-step guide on how to apply a face mask:

Inspired by the idea of “impossible structures” that were exclusively created for Montreal’s Expo 67, Yabu Pushelberg — the multidisciplinary practice founded by George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg — developed the forms for Memento. In this limited series of art pieces that was unveiled recently, the international design studio, that has offices in New York and Toronto, referenced the experimental output of the decades-old expo. The designers then selected memories and experiences that continuously inform their studio practice — from ’20s expressionist films to a meal made and shared with loved ones — and fused them with the initial reference to create contemporary pieces.

Through their two-year-long collaboration with Yabu Pushelberg for this collection, cc-tapis — founded by Nelcya Chamszadeh and Fabrizio Cantoni, and led by Daniele Lora, art director and partner — explored several different techniques and materials in their atelier in Nepal. The Milan-based rug-maker prides itself in bringing a contemporary approach to traditional methods and the rugs that emerged from this process are a testament to the ancient craft of the Tibetan artisans who cc-tapis works with. For Memento — they have combined both dyed and undyed materials, and produced some of the softest finishes. George Yabu, in fact, has particularly professed his love for the four undyed pieces from Memento — Axo, Iso, Ortho and Drift — because the subtly varying tones achieved were created not only during the handmade processes but were also influenced by the completely natural environment of valleys and mountains inhabited by the specific herd of sheep whose wool was used.

Edited excerpts from an interaction with the collaborators:

As evident in the title Memento, the collection is deeply inspired by memory. To what extent do your personal narratives find a place in your creative process and the final outcome?

Glenn Pushelberg (GP): Everything we touch or do begins with a dance of ideas that orchestrates a vision. We always like to start with a story — and that enables us to produce a clear purpose and emotion. Personal narratives are interwoven into everything we do; they comprise the essence of the studio and take us forward. In that way, everything we design is both simultaneously informed by memories and narratives and the future, thus creating an ecosystem of thinking and communicating.

These stories can be distilled from the smallest of things — from the wind stroking a curtain in a restaurant in Bangkok, to a tile we come across on a street, or a meal made with loved ones. What really inspires us is listening to the earth and connecting with people so that we can build worlds that make sense and are attuned to their needs and their futures.

Left to Right: Echo rug; Laneway rug

Can you tell us about some of the memories that came up during the design process? Which were the moments or spaces that you revisited?

George Yabu (GY): The 1920’s expressionist film The Cabinet of Dr Caligari influenced both me and Glenn. I remember being mesmerised by it in my university film critique class and watching it again on my own. I was initially drawn to its fragmented, geometric angles and perspectives. And to this day it has remained in our minds and we often go back to it and reference it.

The idea behind Memento originated from the idea of “impossible architecture” and the fantastical structures that were created for Montreal’s Expo 67. The event  remains significant to me in many ways. This world fair was 1000 per cent rooted in the experimental and it remained pure because it was a pop-up that was not intended to last forever. This happened before “pop-up” became a term. Its notions spiralled into the 3D forms that became the visual signifiers of the ‘Memento’ collection.

What are some of the key innovations — big or small — in this collection? How have Yabu Pushelberg married their sensibilities with the materiality that cc-tapis has come to be known for?

Daniele Lora: The main challenge in the development of the collection was the recreation of the delicate gradients imagined and designed by the North American design studio. We developed and produced several prototypes experimenting with different techniques and materials to translate the extremely delicate gradients into new aesthetics. Guided by a contemporary approach to traditional methods, our artisans combined both dyed and undyed materials to create seven unique hand-made pieces which evoke Yabu Pushelberg’s soft and undefined nostalgic moments that find an expression in the collection.

    Drift rug

How has colour, or the lack of it — as in the undyed pieces — played a role in creating this collection?

GY: Undyed pieces are a fun surprise because they’re based on the breed of sheep that happened to walk by and needed their wool to be shaved at the time. What did the sheep eat? Were they from the valley or from the mountains? All these components impact the look of the undyed wool, which is what we love about it.

Today, the world is bathed in saturated Technicolor. We live in an HD (high-definition) world which is vivid and hyperreal, where technology allows the expression of spaces, of forms and colours in a more immediate way. But when you think of images of memories from the past, they were not as kinetic. So, colours stand out less to me personally when I go back into my memories and we wanted to bring that into the collection.

How to Install a Headset to Office Phone

    [ad_1]

We all had been on that situation that we have to be on a phone call and it takes some time and is very important and have to rest the phone against our shoulder making it really uncomfortable and inconvenient as well, and for this reason, today we will discuss on how to install a headset to your office desk phone, your home phone, your computer and your mobile device or tablet and the best alternatives available for each one of them.

We are going to start with your office desk phone. Here we have 2 alternatives available, we can go with a corded headset or with a wireless solution, depending on the budget and on preference.

    A. Corded Headsets for Office desk phones.

    Headset for desk phone

If we are heading towards a corded headset we have to consider a couple of things here that are essential for a headset to work properly. This is not rocket science, however lot of times if one doesn’t make a little of homework and end purchasing an items that are not fully compatible with their phone can turn an opportunity to a happy solution into a really messy frustration and annoyance. Most of the corded headsets for professional call center grade users are going to have a special connection called Quick Disconnect known as “QD”. This end can be easily confused with a USB port, which will discuss later. You should now asking “What is the purpose of this “QD” feature?” And the answer for this is that it allows a call center user to step away from the desk and take the headset with him/her and when coming back and engaging with a call they just attach faster and easier than taking headset on and off or plugging unplugging from the phone.

First, we need to know if your desk phone has a built in amplifier. You are going to ask “How can I find out that?” and “Why do I need that for?”. The answer to the first question is that if your phone has a built in amplifier makes easier to get a headset to plug in directly to the phone. The answer to the second question is that with the built in amplifier you can answer the calls from the phone itself so when you have your headset plugged in you don’t need to pick up the handset at all, you can answer the call by pressing the headset key and you can modulate the jabra biz 1500 mono direct connect headset viewvolume coming to headset and even mute the microphone. As you can see in this picture, this desk phone has a headset port on the side, and for the same reason it has a built in amplifier. The corded headset for this case in an entry level would be the Jabra Biz 1500 Mono Direct Connect if want to keep it in a friendly budget with noise canceling microphone and with an over the head wearing style headband covering one ear so the user can be aware of the surroundings. If it’s a loud environment and it’sjabra biz 2400 ii duo ultra noise canceling direct connect heads view required to cover both ears so the user can focus on the call and with a better noise canceling microphone I will recommend the Jabra Biz 2400 II Duo Ultra Noise Canceling Direct Connect Headset, as you can see the headset has leatherette ear cushions instead of foam, covering both ears with Kevlar reinforcement and wiring, making it a lighter and more durable unit and with Jabra’s own Ultra Noise Canceling microphone, that is the best in its class for loud places.

What happens if your phone doesn’t have the mentioned built in amplifier or headset port or headset key? Not to be afraid as you can get a corded headset for those desk phones you are going to need an external amplifier and then a corded headset. With the combination of those two items will work with virtually any desk phone. I recommend the Plantronics M22 Vista amplifier and the Plantronics HW540 EncorePro 540 Headset.

If you are in need of a headset compatible with your hearing aids is advised to get this plantronics hw510 encorepro 510 noise canceling headset hac cert viewsetting as well, even if your phone has the built amplifier as the external one will increase the volume coming to the headset. For hearing aid compatible headsets compatible with the M22 amplifierplantronics hw520 encorepro noise canceling binaural headset hac view I will recommend the Plantronics HW510 EncorePro 510 Headset if want to cover 1 ear, if need to cover both ears I will recommend the Plantronics HW520 EncorePro 520 Headset, this would be the best solution for someone with hearing aids as the HW520 is a true binaural sound headset, so the sound comes from both speakers.

Another case that we might find in your desk phone can be that it has a 2.5mm jack on the side. This means that the built in amplifier is on place and you can simply connect ajabra biz 1500 mono cisco spa 303 5xx 9xx certified 2.5mm headse view 2.5mm headset. If want to keep it in a friendly budget you can go with the Jabra Biz 1500 Mono Cisco SPA Headset. Special mention here is that perhaps your desk phone with a 2.5mm jack is not a Cisco, it can be either a Panasonic or Toshiba for example, nothing to worry about as the 2.5mm jack is a universal port and for the same reason the Cisco adapter included in t will be fully compatible.

We are going with a new case now, modern desk phones from for Polycom VVX350example Poly or Yealink come with a USB-A port on the side, back or top of the phone. For this reason you can either get the first mentioned headsets or you can get a USB cordedplantronics blackwire 5210 usb-a, 3.5mm headset, microsoft teams view headset. This port needs to be enable to receive a corded headset. If the port is enable as soon as you plug in the headset the phone will give you a notification (visual and a alert) and then you can answer or end calls by pressing the headset key on the phone. For this kind of desk phones I will recommend the Plantronics Blackwire 5210 USB-A Headset. Easy to use, comfortable to wear and an affordable option for desk phones with USB-A enable ports.

But here is another question “I have a Yealink W-Series cordless phone, how can I get a headset?” The answer for this question is you need to check the side of your phone, you should find a covered 2.5mm or 3.5mm jack. If you have any of the Plantronics H-Top headset, you will need the Plantronics 2.5mm QD cable if you have a Yealink W52P or the Plantronics 3.5mm QD cable if have a Yealink W56P/W56H/W53H/W53P.

    B. Wireless Headsets for Office desk phones.

We had discussed on how to install corded headsets for your desk phone, now we will discuss how to install and which wireless headset are recommended for your phone. We will show you how to properly install your wireless headset on your desk phone as there are 2 ways how to make it work and will explain the main difference between them.

    Plantronics Savi

The first way is the most common for virtually any desk phone with a corded handset plantronics cs540 wireless headset, convertible (c054, co54) view(receiver). This can apply to VoIP and analog desk phones as well. We are going to recommend the Plantronics CS540 Headset as its a well known unit for the next setup. This headset is a Wireless DECT frequency headset, allowing people to roam around the office up to 350 feet on line of sight and allowing to go thru walls without cutting in out while on a call.

First step will be to unplug the handset (receiver) from the base of the phone, then usingVVX601 the telephone interface cable that comes with the CS540 headset plug in the handset to it, one of the ends of the interface cable gets plugged into the base of the wireless headset and the other end goes into the handset port of the phone (the one that you just freed). We are then going to plug in the power adapter into the base of the CS540 and let the headset to charge for at least 20 minutes, you will see the blinking lights once it gets powered up and charging.

Now, we are going to put our CS540 headset on, then take the handset off from the phone and press the Answer/End call button (silver one), you should hear the dial tone from the phone. You would be able to modulate the volume coming from the headset and mute the microphone.

This installation is recommended for desk phones with no built inPlantronics HL10 Handset Lifter Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) capability. The user can attach a Plantronics HL10 Handset lifter, and this device will pick up the handset for you from the distance. For telephones with the EHS function built in we will discuss down how to properly install your wireless headset and what to do before doing that.

There are going to be some models of office desk phones that are not going to be HL10 lifter compatible mainly because the design of the phone creates a conflict with the handset and the lifter, and when the user tries to pick up the handset with the HL10 lifter what happens is that it drops the handset or can’t pick it up, for those cases you will need to get something from either Jabra with its GN1000 RHL or from Sennheiser with its HSL10 II lifter, the design of these 2 lifters are the best advised units for this cases, make sure that you can not mix and match wireless headsets and lifters, this means that you need to get something from Jabra if plan to get the GN1000, like the Jabra Pro 920 or the EPOS Impact D10 II headset if plans to get the HSL10 II.

Now we will discuss how to install your Plantronics CS540 with a phone with EHS function as most of the new desk phones mainly VoIP desk phones have that function and instead of using the HL10 lifter they require a special cable, however is advised to always speak with a live person in order to get the proper cable as it’s not a mix and match situation.

First check on the back of your phone, and you will find the headset port and usually closer to it on the opposite corner you should see extra ports, like the handset port, the ethernet port and then extra ports, depending on the model of phone it can be labeled as “AUX”, “EXT” or “EHS.

On this picture we have a Polycom VVX desk phone, VVX’s have a tiny little port with 5 prongs and is not labeled, so you don’t have to worry. Most of the EHS cables are going to have a funny or weird design mainly because they have to plug in both ports at the same time and the other end gets plugged back in the base of the CS540. When using a EHS cable for the remote answer we are not going to need the Telephone Interface cable as these cables act as the mentioned cable, so you can store it in a safe place, being careful of not tossing it as you never know when you will need it.

Depending on the situation, you might need a Plantronics Amplifier Cable Extension cordPlantronics Amplifier Cable for NEC, Cisco Polycom EHS Extension if plantronics amplifier cable for nec, cisco polycom ehs extension viewyour Cisco or Polycom desk phone has a sidecar, because the EHS cable will not be long enough to reach to both ports, as the sidecar takes space on the back of the phone and one of the EHS cable ends is not long enough to reach to the headset port on the back of the phone.

Before plugging in your EHS cable to the phone and the base of the wireless headset, you need to enable the EHS function on the phone as by default is not enabled from the factory and a lot of times people think that their new wireless headset is not working or the EHS cable is at fault. Depending on your model of phone you need to go into the settings and then on the headset settings, from there you need to find the “EHS Function” and turn it on by selecting the brand of headset/EHS, the phone will have a list of them among them will be Plantronics/Poly, Jabra or Sennheiser. It is important to do this before plugging in because the phone will restart and after the phone restarts it will be ready to simply plug and play.

After all the steps are done, you don’t have to pick up your handset to use your headset on taking  or ending calls. Simply put your headset on and press the Answer/End call button (silver one), you should hear the dial tone from the phone. You will notice that some lights on the desk phone will turn on, depending on the model, such as the headset light and you will hear a “click” on the base of the wireless headset, this is normal as the base is trying to let you know that is connecting to the phone and you should be able to hear the dial tone of your phone.

Things to remember with a wireless headset are things like in order to avoid static when using the wireless headset you need to place the base at least 12 inches apart from your computer and at least 6 inches from the desk phone. If you are in the middle of a call and walking around and you start hearing static means that you are loosing range so you need to get a little closer to the base to avoid that static. A lot of times people don’t hear a dial tone at all, this is an easy fix, you have to turn over the base of your wireless headset and change the setting on the Configuration Switch (it goes from A-G), considering that A is the preferred setting for most of the desk phones and D for Cisco desk phones with no EHS cable.

Now we will discuss solutions for home desk phones. Everyone at home still on these new age days has a phone at home and sometimes people would like to get their hands free for example if need to take a note or if they are doing chores while on a call and we will analyze some offers next.

The good thing about what we had read so far is that a corded or wireless headset for a home phone applies the same rules as for the office desk phones. This means that in order to get a corded or wireless headset your home phone needs to have a corded handset (receiver), this recommended headsets are compatible with home phones that are laying down in the table, this means that not compatible if you have your desk phone mounted on the wall or you have one of those specialty theme phones like the classic clam burger phone, or the Mickey Mouse phone or the most common known “Princess Design” phone and those cordless phones will have something to be used but will discuss that down the road.

    C. Corded headsets for Home desk phones.

For corded headsets the recommended solution would be the Plantronics M22 Vista amplifier and the Plantronics HW540 EncorePro 540 Headset. As we discussed before is the same principle, we need to unplug the handset from the phone, then plug in the handset into the M22 Amplifier and the amplifier gets plugged back into the handset port that you just freed. The HW540 headset gets plugged into the M22 and as soon as you pick up the handset and put it on a side you will hear the dial tone on your headset.

    D. Wireless headsets for Home desk phones.

For a wireless headset will recommend the the Plantronics CS540 + HL 10 Wirelessplantronics cs540+hl10 wireless headset bundle view Headset Bundle. With this setup you get a good quality headset and the remote answer for your desk phone. All the analog desk phones don’t have the Electronic Hook Switch (EHS) capability as this is designed for VoIP lines, for the same reason there’s no cables to do the remote answer with your home desk phone, however the Hl10 lifter will work and will do a good job.

As mentioned before with office desk phones without EHS capability sometimes the design of the phone can create incompatibility issues with the HL 10 lifter and for same reason you will need to go with a different brand that will avoid this.

    E. Corded headsets for cordless home phones.

For those cordless phones you can get something corded or wireless depending on the budget. The corded solution isjabra biz 1500 mono cisco spa 303 5xx 9xx certified 2.5mm headse view usually the less expensive and it is a straight forward solution, as those cordless phones have a 2.5mm jack on the side and for the same reason you can get Jabra Biz 1500 Mono Cisco SPA headset. In this case the coiled cord perhaps will be a little too long for some users as it might be tangling a lot. If that is the case, you can replace that cord with the Jabra 2.5mm Headset adapter as this cord is only 5 inch long straight non coiled design.

    F. Wireless headsets for cordless home phones.

For a wireless solution for cordless phones I will recommend the CS540 headset from plantronics tr-11 analog adapter cable cs540, savi wireless head viewPlantronics and you will need to plug the base of the wireless headset into your phone line using Plantronics TR-11 Analog Adapter. Plantronics TR-11 Analog Adapter Cable CS540, Savi Wireless HeadThen you will need to get a line splitter so you can have your cordless phone plugged to your line, then you plug in the TR-11 adapter into the splitter as well and the other end of the TR-11 adapter goes into the base of the base of the CS540 headset and this will allow you to answer and end calls by pressing the Answer/End call button (silver one), as soon as you press it you should hear your analog dial tone. With this setting you can carry your cordless phone with you and with your headset you would be able the answer/end calls and make calls using the cordless phone dial pad.

As you can see, on analog home phones is a little simpler to get a headset and not so complicated as with the office desk phones. Now that we had gone with those 2 scenarios, now we will discuss how to install corded and wireless headsets on your computer.

    G. Corded headsets for the computer.

    BY 3.5MM jack.

With everyone now days on virtual meetings and webinars they need the best performance on a headset with microphone, for the same reason there are going to be corded and wireless solutions. Corded solutions would be the most budget friendly, Jabra Biz 1100 EDU Stereo Headset w/3.5mm Jackhowever there are some wireless alternatives that actually don’t break the bank and in all the following all are certified to work with all the UC platforms and certified for Microsoft Teams due to its outstanding performance in their microphones. To start we are going with the Jabra Biz 1100 EDU headset. This unit simply plugs to the 3.5mm jack of the computer and straight forward the sound coming in the headset and going thru the microphone would be processed by the computer, no need for additional software to download and fully compatible with Chromebooks.

    BY USB port

In order to get the best sound quality incoming and outgoing the preferred method to do this us by the Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports, any computer has them available and offers less compromise compared with a 3.5mm jack as the USB ports were designed to plug andjabra evolve2 30 uc mono usb-a corded headset view unplug devices multiple times. With this being said, the recommended headset with a nice price point and durability will be the Evolve2 30 UC Mono, this is the most comfortable headset for people to be on virtual meetings all day. One important thing to mention is that in order to get the full potential not just of the Evolve2 30 headset but virtually with any USB corded or wireless headset is that we need the third party software to be installed in the computer, as this works as a middle man between the headset, the computer and any UC platform. Besides that, it helps the headset to keep it updated with the latest firmware and depending on the features of the headset some customization is possible, like  the turn on or off of the busy lights, sound adjusting, bass customization to mention a few.

    H. Wireless headsets for the computer.

With wireless solutions for your computer we encounter poly savi 8245 uc usb wireless headset w/unlimited talk time view2 different frequencies from where we can choose, the wireless DECT and Bluetooth and w will explain the difference between these 2 and the pros and cons as well. Both of them are going to require a dongle or a base which will be plugged to the USB port of the computer.

    DECT HEADSETS.
We will start with the DECT frequency description, as this is the one that provided the further range, the Poly Savi 8245 UC offers a range of up to 300 feet as its a wireless DECT headset, thanks to this the user can walk away and roam around. The benefits of this unit is that you get a further range and almost troubleshoot free when using it and almost no interference with nearby cell phones or computers as the frequency is Wi-Fi interference free. As mentioned before, in order to get the optimal performance when on calls you need to install the third party to update the firmware as is required especially by all the UC platforms. The drawback of this particular unit is the limitation to be used only on the computer which means that if you want to use it with another device is not possible. Another withdraw is in the not so easily to repair the dongle if needed, making it a little challenging for not tech savvy people and the last one will be the pricing as these units tend to be on the higher prices compared with the Bluetooth offers.
    BLUETOOTH HEADSETS.

Now we go with Bluetooth connectivity for your computer, thanks to Moore’s Law every 2 poly voyager 4310 uc bluetooth mono usb-a headset viewyears or so new technology comes out and gets reduced on size and price, for the same reason I will recommend the Poly Voyager 4310 UC, this unit is a Bluetooth class 1 headset and we will discuss its advantages and the withdraws as we did before. Same requirements are needed as with the corded and DECT offers, the integration of the third party software to update firmware and customize the headset, but in this case you can do it from the computer or from your smart phone. To start we can see that the price point is really attractive compared with the DECT offers and even compared with USB corded headsets, another benefit is that offers multi-connectivity, meaning that can be used on the computer with the Bluetooth dongle and it can be paired to a cell phone and have them both paired all time so no need to switch back and forward. The biggest withdraw here would be the range, as it would not be as further as the DECT offer, the up to 160 feet is nothing to be dragging about, and for same reason that is a Bluetooth device as soon as you go across a wall or by big metallic appliances you can find connectivity issues, for same reason if you have multiple Bluetooth enable devices is most likely that the headset will encounter some connectivity issues.

Thanks to the newest USB ports now we can find the classic USB-A and the new USB-C parts on any computer, and for the same reason now on corded or wireless headsets (DECT or Bluetooth) you can find the USB-A version or the USB-C version.

I . Corded headsets for mobile devices.

We now are entering on how to install and which headsets will work for your mobile device such as a smart phone (cell phone) or a tablet. And for this we can go with a corded or wireless solution and will show the available solution for each case.

    BY 3.5MM JACK

jabra evolve 30 ii stereo headset with 3.5mm jack viewFor a corded solution for a smart phone or tablet as long as they have a 3.5mm jack the recommended solution without hurting the wallet would be the Jabra Evolve 30 II Stereo Headset with 3.5mm jack. Pretty straight forward by plugging in the 3.5mm jack of the tablet or cell phone (if it has it) and the sound coming and going will be directed by the cable of the unit, no additional software needed.

Now we are going to dive the corded solutions for smart phones with no 3.5mm jack in iPhone and Android devices. With iPhone users they are going to need the Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter that they sell at Apple stores as Apple decided to not give that adapter anymore and after that you will be able to plug in a 3.5mm jack headset to your iPhone. With that being said for that case my personal experience would be better getting a wireless solution and we will discuss more of this further down.

    BY USB-C PORT

Android users have a little more of options here on corded solutions, mainly because they were the first ones in adopting USB-C charging ports or in some cases they still give 3.5mm adapters with theirjabra engage 40 wired stereo usb-c headset, inline controls uc view devices. If your Android device has a USB-C port like the one pictured here, I will recommend to get the Jabra Engage 40 Wired Stereo USB-C headset. As it is a USB-C corded headset the Android phone will recognize it as a sound device right away and will stream the sound to the speakers and the microphone will have a crisp sound quality.

For the same reason that the device is plugged by the USB-C port you are going to need to install the third party software so you can customize the sound on the headset and in some other cases you can get access to workout logs as well, one of the perks of having third party software.

    J. Wireless headsets for mobile devices.

Now we will discuss the wireless options for your tablet or smart phone, for this plantronics voyager 5200 uc bluetooth usb headset teams viewconnectivity we only have Bluetooth pairing available as DECT jabra evolve2 buds usb-a bluetooth earbuds ms teams viewis not available for mobile devices. For the same reason as the headset and the mobile device are in closer with the user, the range is something that we are not going to dig too much, but is advised to get a Class 1 headset such as Plantronics Voyager 5200 UC headset as it will give better range and microphone performance compared with older Bluetooth headsets. A special mention here comes to the Evolve2 Buds as these are UC and Microsoft Teams certified as some people wants the most discrete headset, specially if they are on the road all the time or if they want to use them while working out. Thanks to the range and the advanced microphones these 2 offer comfort and performance all day. And same as with a USB  headset, the third party software is advised to customize the headset and get the best performance on the microphones.
